Another condor flew into the wild sky for the first time on Saturday September 26. The sky was clear and deep blue and the temperature already hot by 10 am. About 200 eager observers gathered at Pinnacles National Monument to hopefully witness the release of four young condors raised in captivity. When the time came, several wild condors soared and circled over the ridge line above the flight pen holding the young birds. We held our breath and watched. It is up to the condors to come out on their own and sometimes, at these events, they just don't. But, today, lucky us! A young bird emerged and spread its giant wings to soar in the sunshine. What a sight!

  2. This was really fascinating. And, quite a bit of work for me, but I did enjoy it. I loved finding thefreesoundproject and the work of Sinu Spiral. Check out his my space site at the Sinu Spiral link.

One question I have is how to make the sound play without switching to the blank page that just shows the "play/pause" mechanism. Is there a trick? On Lisa's you can click on the link and it plays the song while you are still looking at the picture.

  3. The reason the sound opens in a new page is because this particular blog lacks a good audio player plugin. Perhaps at some point I'll find out how to install such a plugin in blogger (don't know if that's even possible), or at some point we'll migrate to a more robust blog software. Anyway, the blog will do a better job handling video when you guys start tackling that! ;-)
